Oil Leak
From around the oil tank. 2 hour flight, medium power, observed 2 minute cool down before engine off. ***** Update 25 Oct 2023********** Oil leak cleaned up external. Oil on the inside will continue to run down and appear at the panel gaps. G-YD oil cap fitted. It seems to becoming from high up on the oil canister. Small quantities, no obvious source. THe adjustable lid clasp has been tightened a couple of turns to ensure positive closure. NIP 25Oct2023. 30Oct23 ***** update Oil leak had returned (fuel leak made it look worse?). Removed O ring, reshaped the clamp, further tightened and rotated 180 degrees. NIP 30Oct23. *****03Nov2023**** update NIP After clean up possible pin holing in the brazing of the neck of the filler tube. Possible that oil mist is escaping, hitting the underside of the oil cap and then dripping down onto the oil tank, then the rear bulkhead and through the cowling. Temporary wadding applied to see if the oil is coming from below or on top.
Crack at rear hinge pilot side gull wing door
Still secure. Suspect it is paint only. Monitor. Suspect belt buckle in the door opening whilst more force used to slam the door caused the flex and crack to appear. Slamming is never the solution on an aircraft door!
Radio shut down completely upon landing.
Smooth landing before you ask! Called the tower from my phone to get taxiing instructions. The passenger's (right seat) foot had pulled the multi connector out the back of the radio. Now reconnected, but can we investigate how to lock / secure the connector plug? ********** Update NIP Sunday 10th Sep 2023 *********** Clip removed from ZG transponder and fitted. It is clear the pilot's foot can unclip the pin, then the plug can be removed by another nudge. This is poor design. I have put a cable tie around two metal clips to prevent them coming undone. We need to source a clip for ZG now. I have emailed autogyro as I think this is a design fault - feet on pedals going backwards and forwards can easily disconnect the radio. - NIP
